The body can hurt in many different ways. Affected patients complain about back pain, morning stiffness, pain in muscles and joints during exercise, muscular kinks or injuries. As different as the complaints are, so are the causes. Here are some advices to avoid pain in your body and to cope when pain has already occurred.

  1. Find the right balance between physical activity and relaxation. Physical activity strengthens your body and keeps you flexible. However, if you have not been used to a vigorous exercise regime and have started suddenly, the body and its muscles may need a period of time to get used to the new demands. In the long run, exercise should make muscles less tired, but a new exercise regime may cause aches and pains in the short term. The good news is that the pain will decrease as your muscles get used to the new physical demands being placed upon them. It is wise to start any new exercise program gently and gradually.
  2. Find the best exercise for you. Sports can be fun. But not everyone has the capabilities or physical conditions to be a professional football player or a ballet dancer. It is important to find an exercise you enjoy. If you don’t enjoy, you will probably give up. Stay moving!
  3. How to deal with an injury or acute inflammation? For the first 72 hours after a sprain or muscle strain, you should also be avoiding heat, alcohol, running or other forms of exercise that would cause more damage and massage. Instead, you should protect your injury, rest, use Ice, compressions and elevation.
  4. A healthy and balanced diet not only provides the body all nutrients for a good metabolism and digestion. It also helps controlling the body weight. Patients suffering from joint pain often benefit from weight reduction.
  5. Seek immediate medical care if your joint pain is the result of an injury, particularly if you have intense pain, sudden swelling, joint deformity or are unable to move the joint.
